Nature Sphere presents a symbolic biosphere of the fynbos ecosystem, where indigenous birds and plants exist together within a self-contained natural world. A variety of fynbos bird species move among the region’s distinctive flora, while intricate root systems weave together to form the protective structure of the sphere.

The interlacing roots create a cocoon-like enclosure, representing the delicate balance and interdependence that sustain biodiversity. By revealing both the visible life above ground and the hidden structures beneath it, the artwork reflects the complex relationships that connect plants, animals and environment.

Inspired by the remarkable biodiversity of South Africa’s fynbos biome, this piece celebrates the richness of indigenous flora and birdlife, offering a visual meditation on the beauty and harmony of natural ecosystems.
